Annika Thiems is a London-based artist and designer working across tailoring, sculpture and sets. Her custom garments combine dramatic silhouettes and absurdist functions, draped around her collaborators like playful character studies for performances and shoots. The one-of-a-kind pieces and installations are sculptural and site-specific, fusing Annika’s training in exhibition-making, art history and furniture upholstery. Commissions includes everything from armchairs to wedding dresses, most recently a curtain for the Jencks Foundation at the Cosmic House (2023), costumes for theatre maker Paulina Lenoir’s Fool’s Moon cabaret (2021 – ongoing) and a custom garment for moving image artist Katarzyna Perlak’s Broken Hearts Hotel (2022 – ongoing).
