About

Presse Books is a new arts bookshop from Forma located at the end of Great Dover Street. Presse Books will be a home to Forma's artistic community and a new entrance point to Forma for our neighbours in Southwark. We stock a collection of artist editions from Forma's 20 year history in publishing and new media, and we've reached out to our friends in London and beyond to stock artist books, magazines, zines, editions and vinyl that we think reflect the ethos of Presse Books & Forma.

Presse Books will also be a new public hub to host book launches, poetry readings & performances, and workshops. Designed and installed by furniture and architecture designers Nick Tudor and Joshua Malby:

"We took design cues from the building’s 60s origins and Sanchez Benton’s treatment of Forma HQ's development, using a limited selection of humble materials from the local builders merchant to construct a flexible space that can reconfigured to operate as cafe, bookshop and event space."

Garden

Tuesday - Saturday, 9-3 pm

Feel free to take your coffee upstairs to our rooftop garden, designed by horticulturalist Nigel Dunnett with Gabriel Kuri.

Nigel Dunnett is one of the world's leading voices on innovative planting design with an approach that looks to integrate aspects of ecology and horticulture to achieve low-input, high-impact landscapes that are dynamic, diverse and tuned to nature. Initiated as part of a larger project to transform an existing raised podium terrace on the edge of Bricklayers Arms roundabout into a public walled garden, the project also proposed the conversion of a series of neglected lock-up garages at ground level into a thriving community of artists studios, FormaHQ.

FormaHQ

Forma is a contemporary arts organisation based in Southwark, London. Driven by artists and their ideas, we develop collaborative interdisciplinary projects that challenge existing practices, span multiple artistic disciplines and demand new levels of ambition.

Forma now has a permanent home in South London made possible through the vision and support of Southwark Council, Mayor of London and Arts Council England. This new development located at Bricklayers Arms roundabout was designed by Sanchez Benton architects in collaboration with curator Aldo Rinaldi, artist Gabriel Kuri and horticulturalist Nigel Dunnett.

The light-filled frame houses Forma’s office, the cafe and bookshop Presse Books, five artist studios, a residency space for visiting international artists and an event space.
